Things to do nearby
There are plenty of great place to visit near to La Grande Metairie so we’ve listed a few of our favourites below.
Vannes is a wonderful, historical city which originates from Roman times. Within the city walls, you’ll find a great variety of shops, cafes and restaurants and in addition to this a great deal of history. We especially loved the great views and sights of the walls and gardens that lie beneath the Chateau de l’Hermine.
Now we may have mentioned the city of Vannes above but if you’re planning to go to Vannes, don’t forget about the aquarium. Vannes aquarium features 50 tanks of different sizes filled with a variety of creatures such as piranhas, black tip sharks, crocodiles, green turtles, seahorses, green morays and electric eels. You wont be disappointed by a day trip to Vannes Aquarium.
If you don’t want to travel too far from the La Grande Metairie campsite, then why not just stay and explore Carnac. Within the local town you’ll find a variety of lovely beaches which are great for families. Right outside the campsite entrance you’ll find the famous Carnac standing stones.
